How the agency started

nova-translations started in Aveiro in 2015 from a frustration with the quality of available alternatives. Most translation agencies accessible to Portuguese SMEs offered a service far below what a business internationalising actually needs: native reviewers who understand the target market, not just the language.

We built a network of linguists specialist by area: legal, technical, medical, marketing, and media. Every project is assigned based on specialism, not availability.

What makes us different

We do not use machine translation and then edit it. Machine translation output requires retranslating, not reviewing. Our workflow is: specialist linguist, review by a second native linguist, delivery with a note explaining relevant terminology decisions.

All services are delivered digitally. We work with clients in Portugal, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, and the UK. Geographic location is not a constraint.

Where we are

We are in central Aveiro. All deliverables are digital: files via email or shared folder. No travel required.

Hours

Monday to Friday: 9:00 - 18:00 (GMT+0/+1 depending on season)
